Indoor bouncy castle hire: halls and ceiling heights
Village halls, school halls and function rooms can all take a bouncy castle, as long as the castle fits under the lowest point of the ceiling.
How tall are bouncy castles?
Most listed castles are 10 ft or under (typical 9.6 ft); larger castles with slides can reach 13 ft or more.
This is based on the 1,996 bouncy castles, bounce and slide combos and toddler castles in our listings with a published height of 5 ft or more. The table shows how many would fit under a given height, before adding headroom:
| Castle height up to | Castles | Share of listed castles |

| 9 ft | 459 | 23% |
| 10 ft | 1,403 | 70% |
| 11 ft | 1,708 | 86% |
| 12 ft | 1,837 | 92% |
| 13 ft | 1,913 | 96% |
Measure your hall
- Find the lowest point of the ceiling where the castle will go: lights, beams, heaters and basketball hoops count.
- Take away at least 1 ft of headroom. That's the tallest castle you can have.
- Measure the floor area too, leaving room around the castle for the blower and the safety mats at the front. Our size checker works indoors as well.
- Check where the nearest plug socket is and that the castle won't block a fire exit.

Other indoor options
Soft play sets work under almost any ceiling and suit babies and toddlers. Indoors, castles are held down with weights such as sandbags rather than stakes, following the manufacturer's manual.

Common questions
How tall is a bouncy castle?
Most listed castles are 10 ft or under (typical 9.6 ft); larger castles with slides can reach 13 ft or more. Always read the height on the listing.
How high does the ceiling need to be?
Measure the lowest point of the ceiling, including lights and beams, and allow at least 1 ft above the castle's height. Some hire companies ask for more, so check their figure.
Do I need permission from the hall?
Yes. Check with the venue before you book: some halls don't allow inflatables, some need to see the hire company's insurance, and the castle mustn't block fire exits.
