Privacy
Short version: we don't use tracking cookies, we don't ask for your details, and your location never leaves your device.
Who runs this site
Bouncemap runs this site and decides how personal information on it is used (the controller, in UK GDPR terms). You can contact us at [email protected].
What we collect
- No accounts, no forms. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and doesn't track you across sites. It gives us counts of page views, not a profile of you.
- Hosting. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which sees your IP address when your browser asks for a page, as any web host does.
- Your location. If you tap "Use my location", your browser gives the page your position and the page works out the nearest town on your device. It isn't sent to us.
- Postcode lookups. If you type a postcode we don't recognise, the page asks postcodes.io, a free public UK postcode service, for the location of the postcode district only (for example "GU21"), not your full postcode. postcodes.io's server sees your IP address when it answers.
- The last town you viewed. While you browse, we keep the name of the last town page you looked at in your browser tab's session storage, so we can offer a link back to it. It stays on your device, isn't sent to us, and is deleted when you close the tab.
- If you email us. We use your email address and message to reply and to fix any error you report, and keep them only as long as we need to deal with it.
Photos and links to hire companies
Product photos load from each hire company's own site or from the image service its website platform uses (for example Cloudinary), so those servers can see your IP address and that your browser asked for the image, as with any web page. When you tap through to a company, its own privacy policy applies. Our links add a "bouncemap" tag so the company knows the visit came from us; it doesn't identify you.
Business listings
We list business names, websites, phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers and service areas that companies publish themselves, so people can find and compare local hire companies. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interests: helping parents choose a hire company, using public business information. We show a base town and postcode district only, never a full address.
We keep a listing while the company is trading and we can check it, or until the company asks us to remove it. To correct, remove or object to a listing, email [email protected] and we'll act within two working days. If you're a sole trader, a business phone number can count as personal information, and the same route applies.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing [email protected]. If you're not happy with our reply, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
